Short, because there is not much to say. Be useful, be honest, and do not post anything you would not put your name to.
What this forum is for
Real questions from people working out what to do next, and answers from people who have been through it. Somebody asking about their own grades, their own deadline or their own money will get a better answer if they say so, and a question with the details in it is the one most likely to be answered.
What is not allowed
- Anything illegal, and anything that encourages it. This includes offering to sit an exam for somebody, sell exam material, or write work that is going to be handed in as theirs.
- Abuse, harassment, or going after another poster rather than what they said.
- Anything that puts a young person at risk, and any attempt to move a conversation with one somewhere private.
- Other people's personal details. That includes your own: no phone numbers, no addresses, no full names of people who have not posted here.
- Advertising, referral links, and posting the same thing across several threads.
How posting works
- Anybody can read the forum. Posting needs an email address and a name you choose, and the address is never shown to anybody.
- A new account's first post is read by a moderator before it appears. After that you post straight through.
- A post can carry a link once the account is a day old and has 3 posts behind it. Link spam is most of what a small forum gets.
- You can edit your own post for 15 minutes. After that it stands, because somebody may have replied to it, and a correction is another post.
- There are no private messages, no image or file uploads, and no way to contact another poster off the thread. That is deliberate.
Reporting something
Every post carries a report box for anybody signed in. A report goes straight to a person rather than into a list somebody has to remember to open. If you are not signed in, or you would rather not use the box, email david@kabooly.com.
Anything reported is read. If it breaks the rules above it comes down, and the account behind it may be suspended.
What happens to a removed post
Nothing on this forum is ever hard deleted. A removed post keeps its row, its author and its text, marked with the reason it was taken down and the date. The law expects a record of what was removed, and deleting the evidence that the site acted would destroy it. The post itself stops being public the moment it is removed.
Disagreeing with a decision
Reply to the email you signed in with, or write to david@kabooly.com, and say which post and why. A decision that was wrong gets reversed.
